About Us

A small specialist practice

At Your Way Psychology and Education, we take pride in being a small specialist practice dedicated to providing private assessments for autism and other difficulties. We are neuro-affirming, which means we support and celebrate neurodiversity, valuing the strengths and rights of neurodivergent individuals and providing the adaptations they need to succeed and thrive without attempting to ‘fix’ or change their neurotype. 

Drawing on psychology and school leadership expertise, we provide young people and families with a personalised, simple, and supportive service. Our support extends to guiding families through every step of the journey – from the initial screening and diagnosis to securing the necessary support from their child’s school or, if needed, an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan).

Why do we exist?

We spent years speaking to families facing excruciatingly long wait times for assessments, only to receive reports that failed to capture their child’s unique needs and that were not fully understood by schools. We set about to change this. We are on a mission to provide good quality assessments, with short waiting lists, that actually make a difference. We stand apart because we bridge the gap between expert medical and psychological knowledge and its practical application in schools and at home. Our dedicated team includes clinical psychologists, educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, experienced teachers, and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators). Together, we offer a wide range of assessments, specialising in autism, ADHD, dyslexia, cognitive differences and follow up support and intervention advice. All of our recommendations are reviewed by members of the clinical team and the education team, this ensures they are both meaningful for the child and practical to deliver.

Dr Jasmine Anilmis

About:

Dr Jasmine Anilmis is senior clinical psychologist with extensive experience working in the NHS. She is trained to work with individuals across the lifespan but has specialised in supporting children and young people within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) since she qualified from her doctorate. She works in the NHS and private sector and is an expert at working out what is right for the child or young people and what will make a difference to their life. In her NHS role Jasmine assesses and supports children and young people with a range of mental health difficulties. She has her own therapy cases, and as a senior clinical psychologist within the team she supervises therapists and trainees on their own clinical work. Jasmine has experience of supporting autistic people across the lifespan and completed her doctoral research on young people’s experiences of receiving an autism diagnosis. Within her private work Jasmine undertakes autism neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments as part of a team and is trained in the use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – 2nd Edition (ADOS-II). Within her private work Jasmine provides individual therapy and undertakes autism and ADHD neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments as part of a team. She is trained in the use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R).

About:

Teba Pozo Recio is a qualified and HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist. She has 18 years of experience working in NHS trusts and privately with young people with a range of Speech, Language and Communication needs. Teba’s area of expertise is working with young people whose communication difficulties are associated with neuro-developmental conditions, particularly with autism. Teba provides autism and communication support training for parents, carers and young people. She has worked for CAMHS and private Autism assessment clinics for 6 years carrying out Autism assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Clinical Team Nurse

About:

Pennie Hawkes-Payne is a Neurodevelopmental Clinical Nurse Specialist with many years experience of working with neurodiversity in both the NHS and private practice. Pennie has personal experience of parenting a child with autism as well as extensive experience supporting parents and carers. Pennie is also a trained counsellor and has experience running parenting workshops specifically focused on parenting children with neurodiversity. Pennie undertakes ADOS – II assessments as part of our multi-disciplinary assessment process.

Senior Leader in Mainstream School, Special School and Alternative Provision

About:

Jack is a fellow of the chartered college of teaching and has held various inclusion, special education and school leadership roles including an Executive Leader in a multi-academy trust, Director of Inclusion, Strategic Leader for a secondary alternative provision, Head of a SEMH special school, Deputy Headteacher/ Inclusion lead for a primary mainstream, autism resource base manager and SENCO. He has previously run an Outstanding and twice National Autistic Society accredited autism provision and helped to support many families through the process of receiving a diagnosis and gaining an EHCP. He is an expert at advising schools on how to structure their SEND systems and how to support each individual young person. He is currently undertaking a doctoral qualification.

About:

Dr Amna Sarwar is a qualified and HCPC registered Educational Psychologist. She has over 10 years of experience working within two large local authorities delivering consultations, assessments, interventions and training to schools, parents and children and young people (aged 0-25 years). She has expertise in providing psychological advice for Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, as well as assessing and supporting needs in learning (including, dyslexia and dyscalculia), social skills, emotional literacy and mental wellbeing. Amna is skilled in administering and interpreting psychological tests, including cognitive assessments. Key roles have included: Assessments of learning difficulties; identifying and meeting the needs of pupils with neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly Autism and ADHD, within school settings; supporting pupils with emotional-based school avoidance (EBSA); promoting resilience; delivering INSET and parent support workshops; planning and implementing systemic change within educational settings; providing supervision to a range of educational professionals, including school staff. Amna is dedicated to working collaboratively with schools, families, and pupils to promote positive learning, social and emotional outcomes for children and young people regardless of any needs and/or diagnoses. Relatedly she completed her doctoral thesis on the social inclusion of children with Autism.

About:

Rosa is a primary school senior leader and assistant headteacher who has worked for many years supporting autistic children and their families. She has led an Ofsted Outstanding, National Autistic Society Accredited autism provision and has extensive experience using alternative communication strategies like PECS, Makaton and developing personalised plans to support children. She is a specialist leader of education and advises other professionals on how to effectively support young people with SEN. Rosa teaches autistic young people every day, is an expert in implementing TEACCH approaches and runs targeted interventions to support young people in school and at home.

About:

Kerry is an experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo). She has led training on SEND for a School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider and provided support to both Primary and Secondary schools in the area of SEND as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE). Kerry holds the young person at the centre of all she does when working with schools and families to ensure support is individualised and relevant to each young person. She is currently undertaking a doctoral qualification.
